The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Music Ministry is a dynamic group of talented, dedicated musicians with the aspiration of enhancing our Liturgies. We actively search out new members for all of our ministries. Please take time to look at the descriptions of our many ministries to see if you might be interested in becoming part of this integral parish ministry. If you have any questions or are interested in joining our ministry please contact the Director of Music, Kevin Luke. (814-944-2044;

Music Ministry

New Music

The cantor’s rule is to lead the singing during Mass. It is the cantor’s duty to invite full, active and conscious participation from the entire assembly. A cantor can be any male or female gifted with musical abilities. One must be able to speak and sing clearly and with confidence. This ministry requires regular practice of tone quality, diction, projection, and careful study of the musical selections. Cantors are asked to be available for Sunday Mass, Evening Prayer, Vigil for the Deceased, Funeral Masses, Committal Service, special prayer services and liturgies.

The psalmist duty is to proclaim the Psalm at Mass. Males or females who have received Baptism and Eucharist are invited to lead the people in their sung response.

Adult Choir:
The adult choir aids the assembly in full and active participation in the sung parts of the Mass. Our growing repertoire consists of Latin motets, traditional, contemporary, and classical music. The choir sings regularly at the 10 o’clock Mass on Sunday. Rehearsals are held weekly, during the academic year, on Thursday evenings from 7 PM to 9 PM.

Anyone gifted with talent for a certain musical instrument is welcome to aid in enhancing the worship of God’s holy people. Organ, piano, woodwinds, strings, brass, and percussion are always welcome. Especially for special diocesan events and parish feasts.
